Who We Are
Sustainable Health Education and Interventions (SHEILD) is a dedicated non-profit organisation committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on health, with a focus on ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for all.
SHEILD strives to forge strong collaborations and partnerships with government agencies, including the Ghana Health Service, with whom SHEILD has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), enabling comprehensive assessment of health needs and the development of timely, impactful interventions to address pressing national health challenges.

Vision
The mission of SHEILD is to tackle the most critical health issues by reducing inequalities in healthcare provision, especially for marginalised populations. Working closely with key stakeholders and sector partners, SHEILD aims to deliver sustainable solutions that improve health outcomes across Ghana and beyond.

Achievement:
Among SHEILD’s many impactful initiatives is the establishment of the Ghana Police Hospital Dialysis Centre, created in partnership with other key stakeholders. Officially opened in April 2011 by then Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Alhassan, this centre set a precedent for excellence in renal care.
Continuing its legacy of innovation, SHEILD proceeded with the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital Dialysis Centre. Equipped with four advanced dialysis units, this ultra-modern facility is designed to provide world-class, subsidised care, directly addressing the critical burden of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in Ghana.
The centre features state-of-the-art equipment, including tubing, blood pumps, anticoagulant pumps, dialysers, monitors, alarms, dialysate systems, and a comprehensive water purification and mixing system—ensuring life-saving dialysis and significantly reducing preventable deaths.
The latest of SHEILD’s interventions is the expanded Upper West Regional Hospital Dialysis, sponsored by the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, with support from the Upper West Parliamentary Caucus.
Through its unwavering commitment, SHEILD is shaping a healthier, more equitable future for all Ghanaians.
